Ihnatko:Vanity Prez

Gentlefolk,
I generally do not republish others works in their entirety. I felt it necessary to do so here. Andy brings many very valid points to the table here. Personally, I don’t like any of the candidates, nor much about the political process. Please check out Andy’s work at his site (http://ihnatko.com ). And, Andy, if you read this, let me know when you’re in the Lowell area, and I’ll buy you a beverage of your choice.

Vanity Prez: ”

If you want to be a published author, well, that’s no trouble at all. Write a big check to a vanity publisher, or to a local print shop. They’ll take any manuscript you can cobble together and print it as an authentic, book-shaped object.

Honest: it’ll have words and pages and everything. You can put it on your bookshelf alongside such celebrated novels as ‘The Hitch-Hiker’s Guide To The Galaxy,’ ‘A Farewell To Arms,’ ‘Great Expectations,’ and ‘Fear And Loathing In Las Vegas,’ each of which has sold hundreds of thousands of copies.

You just can’t put it on a bookshelf at Barnes & Noble. Not unless you sneak it in there when Security isn’t watching. You’ll probably have a decent shot at it; usually they’re more concerned about inventory moving in the opposite direction.

Otherwise…no. Booksellers won’t stock your vanity-press book. Period.

More work is done

So I just finished the first of the Art pages. Check them out – who knows, maybe it’ll improve your day. Art in general is very specific – either you like it or you don’t. The best kind of art in my either makes you think, or tells a story. I try to make my art make you think and feel. I’m not so good at the story telling stuff.

The material I have posted is sexually charged, so you might want to think about where you are before viewing it.

Elfquest!

A long time ago, a certain beautiful girl introduced me to the world of the Wolfriders. I wouldn’t go so far as to say it changed my life – but it strengthened my beliefs and my convictions in a variety of ways.

It help solidify the growing connection between the girl and I (although she [then] would’ve had strong words for me had I called her such).

There are many reasons to respect the world that Richard and Wendy Pini created and nurtured:

  • One of the first Indie Comics
  • One of the first American comics to show infuence from Manga
  • The first comic to deal respectfully with consensual non-monogamy
  • Great, well developed characters
  • Excellent,intriguing story-line over all
  • WaRP Graphics has begun putting all (as in every issue) of Elfquest online, for free.
You can begin your journey by clicking here. Not the best way to read, but an easy way to start without a financial commitment. Once you start, you’ll be buying the books, I’m certain of it!
