A real Dad Moment…of fear.

Sooo…
Oldest and I are getting ready to go the the Dentist. She is is getting a cavity filled.
That doesn’t worry me so much, as I have complete faith in Dr. Nilfa. (I just know she swears like a drunken sailor as soon as her last patient is gone…)
But for some reason, I’m afraid of how Oldest will react to the nitrous. I think it’s because I’ve never had it…not even recreationally. I’m also worried about what she’ll be like when the silly gas wears off, as Oldest is kind of a pain weanie. Not that I expect her to be Ahnold or anything, but she screams like someone has stuck an icepick in her ear when she gets her toenails cut.

Like when facing a wild dog, I’m trying not to show my fear, lest it be contagious.

On top of that, I’ll be leaving Smallest one with a sitter for the first time. I’m pretty sure all will be well. I’ll be setting them up with Aardman’s Wallace and Gromit flick; “The Curse of the WereRabbit”. It’s Beanie’s fave movie ever (yet…). And she adores the folks that’ll be with her. So she should be all set, but still…

A dad must worry. It’s part of the job.

Update:

Oldest one did wonderfully! The only thing that went wrong was that we ran into stupid traffic for no reason and were a bit late. She can’t wait for her appointment next week!

Smallest one did ver’ well with the SueHawk duo of sitters. I believe we will be availing ourselves of their services again in the future.

What’s that beat I keep hearing?

It’s the doldrums. Nothing much is happening, yet many things are.
Like the tenant swap has happened, but not much has come of it yet.
The new job has begun, but not much has come of it yet. I know it will take a while to get into the roll of it, but I want to be a superstar, and NOW!
Like a doctor on vacation, I got no patience.

Psycho-Momia just keeps going, but there are times that I wonder if she as sure of our decisions as she seems.

I’ve come to realize that life with kids isn’t a bundle of great moments that make easy post fodder – it usually takes someone else to point out funny or amazing things about the girls.

Still working on The upcoming endeavour, but if you want to have a looksee, go ahead. Let me know what you think in the comments…..

A Multitude of Miscellany.

The storm is upon us. OLOPM will be here in a few hours. I shall be cooking her a birthday dinner which I hope turns out well. Shouldn’t be an issue, as I’m not a bad cook. Not a great one, either, but…

The girls are all excited, which is making them difficult to handle. They’re not being “bad”, per se, but are definitely high energy, and high maintenance. Should be fun getting them bathed.

Been Spending a lot of brainpower on the upcoming Kallisti Medias Project. WYSIWYG web editors all suck. And they make my brain hurt. I really need to learn Cocoa so I can program my own tools, ones that work the way my head does.

I’ve been “reading” Spook Country by William Gibson. In reality, I’m actually listening to it via the unabridged audiobook.
He, as always is a master of detailed descriptions, including little things that set the tone of the world you are vicariously exploring. Spook Country is set in the Now, and so is a different experience than his prior art. As I listen, I keep finding things to google. Crazy, I tell ya….the things you can find if you only know to look for them. I highly recommend All of his work. Get them here: William Gibson Books
